Alderney Sailing Club
International Alderney Regatta
July 9th - 11th 1999

Sponsored by BAVARIA BREWERY

In the spirit of our island we hope you will join us for a laid back and enjoyable weekend, with fun sailing and first class socialising.

Free moorings have been arranged for yachts taking part in the regatta. Please appreciate though, that the harbour may be busy and that specific moorings have not been allocated for Regatta yachts. Yachts may have to raft up. Please listen to and obey the instructions of Alderney Harbour Office staff (working Channel 74). To help identification of Regatta Yachts there is a Commemorative Plaque that will be issued to yachts at the Registration before the Vin d’honneur. A list of entries will be given to the Harbour Office anyway so the staff should be aware of yachts entitled to free moorings.

Registration for the regatta will take place between 1900 and 1930 at the Sailing Club. Please could all yachts send a representative to this registration. There will a pack for each yacht including goodies and bits, which we hope, will be of use.

The two races this year will be to Dielette on Saturday July 10th with a start at 1000 and Round the Island starting at 1400 on Sunday July 11th. The briefings for both Races will take place at the Sailing Club at 1930 on Friday for the Dielette Race and 1200 on Sunday for the Round the Island Race. 'racing around Alderney'

The Vin d’honneur will take place at the Sailing Club from 1900 on the Friday evening. This has been sponsored by local firms. There will be small eats provided. It is possible that the island may be busy on a Friday evening in July and crews may find it advisable to book their evening meal beforehand. The First and Last Restaurant is always popular with visiting crews (tel: 01481 823162), as is the Georgian House in town (tel: 01481 822471).

Thanks to our French friends the Race to Dielette will be followed by a reception at the new yacht club building at the marina. Please confirm numbers at the Registration on Friday evening, as we have to advise them of numbers.

This year the final prize-giving will be in Alderney at the Sailing Club on Sunday evening after the Round the Island Race. We will also be offering platters of Fruits de Mer for boat crews as we did last year. Unfortunately due to the problems of producing such a meal we will need orders and payment for the food by June 18th. Should boats ordering food not make the regatta we will endeavour to refund the money if possible. Fruit de Mer

We have arranged for commemorative sweatshirts to be available. These can be ordered on Friday evening and will be delivered on Saturday evening at a cost of £18.50

To keep the friendliness and atmosphere of the Regatta entries will be restricted so it is advisable to enter early.
